Security Update – Ransomware attacks worldwide
We would like to advise our clients to pay special attention to links and attachments in emails they receive.
Ransomware spreads through email (by opening links and attachments) and is a type malware designed to prevent access to a system or files until a sum of money is paid. A new wave of ransomware has hit thousands of computers last Friday and is expected to attach many more.
The most recent ransomware demands users pay USD 300 worth of cryptocurrency Bitcoin to retrieve their files. Last Friday, it had spread from Asia and Europe to the United States and South America.
Keep your systems and security software updated and:
- Do not open unknown emails
- Do not click on bizarre and unknown links
- Do not open unknown attachments
